Democrat Mary Sheffield Elected Detroit’s First Woman Mayor

City Council President Mary Sheffield will be Detroit’s newest mayor and the first woman to lead the city. She defeated popular megachurch pastor the Rev. Solomon Kinloch in Tuesday’s general election.
